Cyber Chip Program

Today’s youth are spending more time than ever using digital media for education, research, socializing, and fun. To help families and volunteers keep safe while on-line, The Boy Scouts of America has introduced the Cyber Chip. The BSA has teamed up with content expert NetSmartz, part of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and training expert for many law enforcement agencies. Netsmartz has created a scouting portal showcasing Cyber Chip resources, including grade-specific videos for each level of scouting. Our pack utilizes these materials.

Topics covered include cyber-bullying, cell phone use, texting, blogging, gaming, and identify theft.

Our Pack uses hands-on teaching materials during its scout meetings to reinforce these concepts. We also encourage families to spend time with their scout reviewing all Cyber Chip material.

In addition, the Cyber Chip is rechargeable; which means that it’s something that a scout needs to “renew” each year.

Cyber Chip certification will allow scouts from Pack 316 the privilege of participating in video game tournaments and the opportunity to bring their electronic devices to designated events.
